Interim government's Chief Adviser, Dr. Muhammad Yunus, announced that Bangladesh will hold the most beautiful election in its history after 17 years. He made this statement on Wednesday (June 11) while participating in a dialogue at Chatham House in London.
The Chief Adviser stated that the interim government will organize the most excellent election within the last 17 years. He also said that the announced time (April next year) is the right time for the election, and the people of the country are ready to vote.
During this time, Dr. Muhammad Yunus also informed that the "July Charter" will be presented to the nation next July.
He mentioned that a reform commission has been established to create a new Bangladesh. "We have formed commissions for every institution. We are awaiting their recommendations. Our job is to build consensus among all parties," he said.
In the dialogue, the Chief Adviser highlighted various initiatives undertaken by the interim government. He said that previously, "middlemen" were required to access various government services like passports, which created opportunities for corruption. Now, various government services are being provided online so that everyone can easily access them.
Regarding the Rohingya issue, Dr. Yunus stated that among the Rohingyas who arrived seven years ago, those who were five months to five or seven years old are now all young adults or teenagers.
"With the US government ceasing funding for various programs, who will now bear their expenses? They don't even have a fixed duration of stay. The interim government is working on this matter with seriousness," he added.
At this time, the Chief Adviser also stated that the interim government is sincerely working to ensure women's rights.
