The target was set for 193 runs. It was hard to chase the runs in the wicket of Mirpur stadium. But it was not seemed by watching the beginning of batting of Comilla Victorians. The team scored 53 runs without losing any wicket at one stage. But after that Tamim’s team lost its rhythm. And from that point they could not move around. They managed to score 156 runs by losing all the wickets. Mashrafe’s Rangpur Raiders reached in the final of BPL 2017 defeating Comilla Victorians by 36 runs. The team from the north Bengal will face Shakib’s Dhaka Dynamites in the title deciding match at 7 pm on Tuesday.
The beginning of Comilla was fantastic. The team collected 53 run without losing wicket. Tamim made his way to the pavilion being a victim of Mashrafe when their run was 54. Imrul Kayes returned in the next very over scoring duck. Shoeb Malik was out by snake dancer Nazmul Islam Apu when the team’s run on the scoreboard was 75. Liton Das made a fight by scoring 39 runs and got out when the total run was 96. After that Marlon Samuels and Josh Butler tried their best but bowler Ravi Bopara returned them to the dressing room. At last the hot favorite team of the tournament managed to score 156 runs.
Rangpur’s Rubel Hossain bagged 3 wickets while Bopara and Udana took 2 each.
On Monday Rangpur resumed their play with earlier day’s 55 runs for one wicket. Johnson Charles and Brendon Mc Cullum dominated over the bowlers of Comilla. With their tornado innings Rangpur scored a big total of 192 runs in the stipulated 20 overs.
Charles scored a hurricane century. He was unbeaten 105 of just 63 deliveries. Mc Cullum scored 78 of 46 balls.
Mehedi Hasan, Hasan Ali and Saifuddin bagged one wicket each for Comilla.
On Sunday Rangpur and Comilla faced each other in the second qualifier. But rain interrupted the match after Rangpur scored 55 runs losing the wicket of Chris Gayle with completion of 7 overs. The match was then shifted to the reserve day on Monday following the decision of BPL governing council.
