11km tailback on Dhaka-Tangail highway

The pressure of vehicles on the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge highway is increasing as the time of Eid is approaching. An 11-km tailback has been created on the road from Charbabla to Bangabandhu Bridge in Kalihati upazila.

As a result, passengers and drivers are suffering a lot. Meanwhile, Dhaka-bound vehicles are going to Dhaka from Bangabandhu Bridge East via Bhuapur and Elenga Link Road. Besides, north-bound vehicles are plying one-way from Elenga.

Elenga Highway Police In-Charge Mir Mohammad Sajedur Rahman confirmed the matter on Saturday morning (June 15).

Passengers and drivers said that the vehicles from Chandra to Elenga are moving in an orderly manner. Traffic congestion is being created on the two-lane road from Elenga to Bangabandhu Bridge due to plying of Pallapalli without following any discipline.

Elenga Highway Police In-Charge Mir Mohammad Sajedur Rahman said, 'The pressure of homegoing people and vehicles has increased on the road. As a result, long queues of vehicles have been created from Elenga to the bridge. Police are working tirelessly on the highway.'
