Public Administration Minister Syed Ashraful Islam has said that three lakh 59 thousand 261 government posts are vacant at present in different ministries and departments under those.
He delivered the information in the Jatiya Sangsad on Tuesday while answering star marked question of lawmaker Mohammad Golam Rabbani from Chapainawabganj-1 constituency in the question answering session.
Syed Ashraf said, of the vacant posts there were 48 thousand 246 posts for first class, 54 thousand 294 posts for second class, one lakh 82 thousand 737 posts for third class and 73 thousand 984 posts for fourth class officials.
He said that recruitment in the vacant posts of grade 10 to 12 (first and second class) was done by the Public Service Commission following demand from different ministries or departments and corporations under those.
The Minister also said that recruitment for the posts from grade 13 to 20 was done by concerned ministries, divisions, departments or corporations according to their respective recruitment rules.
He also highlighted that to fulfill the vacant posts as early as possible letters were issued requesting all ministries and departments.
