A tragic accident on the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway in Dohazari Sadar claimed the lives of three people, including two school-going siblings. A speeding Chattogram-bound Purabi bus crashed into a battery-powered auto-rickshaw, leaving another ninth-grade student, Kazi Fahmida Washima Tushin (15), critically injured.
The accident occurred around 8:30 AM on Thursday (March 13) when the bus rammed into the auto-rickshaw from behind. One student and the rickshaw driver died instantly, while the other student passed away en route to the hospital.
The deceased students, Umme Habiba Rizvi (15) and Wakar Uddin Adil (12), were siblings and attended Dohazari Patshala Public School and College. They were on their way to coaching classes when the tragedy struck. The third victim was rickshaw driver Ruhul Amin (45).
Dohazari Highway Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Subranjan Chakma confirmed that the bus had been seized, but the driver and his assistant fled the scene.
In response to the incident, outraged locals have blocked the highway, demanding the installation of speed bumps to prevent further accidents. As of the latest updates, traffic remains at a standstill.
