Bomb Attack Kills BNP Activist in Eid Prayer Dispute in Jessore

A bomb attack stemming from a dispute over Eid prayers in Sharsha, Jashore, has resulted in the death of a BNP activist named Abdul Hai (50).

Another individual, Md. Zia (32), was injured in the incident. The incident occurred around 8:30 PM on Saturday (June 8) in Dubpara village, Bahadurpur Union, of the upazila.

Dispute Over Eid Prayers Leads to Attack
According to several local residents, the murder originated from a dispute over attending Eid prayers at the local Eidgah field in Bahadurpur Union on Saturday morning.

On that day, Abu Said, son of ward BNP leader Jamsed Ali, allegedly obstructed Awami League supporters from performing Eid prayers.

Abdul Hai and other BNP leaders present protested this action. Following the confrontation, Abu Said and his followers left the Eidgah field.

Later that night, Abdul Hai was at a location called Dubpara Jamtala. At that time, Abu Said reportedly threw a bomb at him.

Abdul Hai was severely injured by the bomb and was rushed to Sharsha Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.

Zia, another BNP activist who was with Abdul Hai, was injured in the incident and admitted to Sharsha Upazila Health Complex. Tension is high in the area following the event.

BNP General Secretary Denies Affiliation
Regarding the incident, Nuruzzaman Liton, General Secretary of Sharsha Upazila BNP, stated, "A terrorist named Abu Said committed this murder over the obstruction of Eid prayers.

He is not a member of the BNP; he has been trying to pose as BNP after August 5th. Essentially, he is a terrorist and drug addict. His father was also not involved in BNP politics."

When asked about the matter, Md. Russel Mia, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Benapole Port Police Station, confirmed that police visited the scene upon receiving the news.

The body has been sent to Jashore General Hospital morgue for an autopsy. Police operations are underway to apprehend those involved in the incident.
