The court has accepted the charge sheet in connection with Feni madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi murder case. Besides, the court ordered to send the accused in jail after rejecting the bail plea. Feni Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Mamunur Rashid delivered the order on Monday.
Public Prosecutor of district judge court Priyaranjan Dutt said, the arrested 21 accused were produced before the court through strict security measures. The court accepted the charge sheet of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) which demanded capital punishment of 16 accused. The court fixed the date June 20 for charge framing.
He said, the court rejected the bail and ordered to send charge sheeted accused Awami League leader Ruhul Amin, councilor Maksud Alam, lecturer Absar Uddin, Md. Shamim, Iftekhar Uddin and Nur Uddin to the jail.
Besides, the court acquitted Nusrat’s classmates Ariful Islam, Nur Hossain, Kefayetullah Jony, Mohammad Alauddin and Shahidul Islam as their names were not mentioned in the charge sheet.
Earlier, on May 28 PBI officials submitted the 808 papers charge sheet accusing 16 before the court of Feni senior judicial magistrate Zakir Hossain. On that day the papers of the case including the charge sheet were sent to the court of Feni Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Mamunur Rashid. Later the accused were produced before the court on May 30 and the date of hearing for charge framing was fixed on June 10.
In different times in connection with the case madrasa principal Siraj-ud-Doula, Nur Uddin, Shahadat Hossain Shamim, Umme Sultana Poppy, Kamrunnahar Moni, Jabed Hossain, Abdur Rahim alias Sharif, Hafez Abdul Quader and Jobaer Rahman, Emran Hossain Mamun, Iftekhar Hossain Rana and Mahiuddin Shakil gave confessional statement.
Mentionable, on March 27 of the current year police detained Sonagazi Islamia Fazil Madrasa principal Siraj-ud-Doula over allegation of sexual harassment against the madrasa Alim examination candidate Nusrat Jahan Rafi. Later on April 6 the associates of the principal set Nusrat ablaze after taking her to the roof top of madrasa cyclone center. After fighting for her life for five days Nusrat succumbed to her injuries.
In this incident Nusrat’s elder brother Mahmudul Hasan Noman filed a case with Sonagazi model police station mentioning eight names as accused.
