Prime Minister Sheikh Hasaina distributed prestigious Ekushey Padak-2018 among 21 prominent citizens for their contribution to various fields including language movement, education, culture and social service.
The premier handed over the Ekushey Padak to the recipients in a program held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium on Tuesday.
The Ehushey Padak recipients are: AZM Takiullah (posthumous) and Prof Dr Mirza Mazharul Islam for language movement, Sheikh Sadi Khan, Sujoy Sham, Indra Mohan Rajbanshi, Khurshid Alam and Motiul Haque Khan for music. Minu Haque (minu Billah) for dance, Humayun Faridi (posthumous) for acting, Nikhil Sen for drama, Kalidas Karmakar for fine arts, Golam Mostofa for photography, Ranesh Moitro for journalism, Professor Julekha Haque (posthumous) for research, Dr. Mainul Islam for economics, Ilias Kanchan for social work. Syed Manzoorul Islam, Saiful Islam Khan (poet Hayat Saef), Subrata Barua, Robiul Hussain and Khalekdad Chowdhury (posthumous) got the award for language and literature.
