Bangladeshi expatriates working in Italy have broken all previous records in remittance sent home. In 2024, they sent over 1,300 million euros, an increase of nearly 150 million euros compared to 2023.

According to Bangladeshi expatriates and stakeholders in Italy, the flow of remittances significantly increased last year compared to 2023, and this trend is expected to continue.

Italy is home to over 200,000 Bangladeshis, including approximately 60,000 undocumented immigrants. Addressing issues related to legal status and passport delays could further boost the country's remittance earnings.

In 2024, Bangladeshi expatriates worldwide sent a total of $26.889 billion in remittances, marking an increase of $4.972 billion or 22.68% compared to 2023.
