Expatriate Bangladeshis sent $165.61 crore in remittances during the first 15 days of March, according to data from Bangladesh Bank (BB) released on Sunday (March 16).
On average, the country received $11.4 crore in remittances per day during this period. State-owned banks collected $37.11 crore, while specialised banks received $13.2 crore. Private banks accounted for the majority, handling $115.16 crore, and foreign sector banks facilitated $31 lakh.
In comparison, Bangladesh received $131.22 crore in remittances during the same period last month.
Total remittances stood at $218.52 crore in January and $252.76 crore in February. So far in 2024, Bangladesh has received $2,688.91 crore in remittances.
