Rice prices have gone up once again. Depending on the variety, the price per kilogram of rice has increased by 10 to 15 Taka in just one month. While items like onions, green chillies, and ginger-garlic are still available at previous prices, the prices of cardamom and other spices have sharply risen.

Vendors at Karwan Bazar in the capital report that in the past month, the price of Miniket rice has risen from 70 Taka to 85 Taka per kg, Atash rice has increased from 55 Taka to 65 Taka, and Paijam rice is now being sold for 50 to 60 Taka per kg.

In addition to rice, spice prices have also soared. The price of cardamom has jumped from 3,000 Taka to 5,200 Taka per kilogram. However, despite a boost in the supply of soybean oil, its price remains unchanged.

While some winter vegetables have seen a price drop, others like brinjal, long beans, and bitter gourd have become more expensive. The prices of fish and meat have remained stable over the past few weeks.

Consumers are hoping that the prices of items like pulses and cinnamon, which have decreased, will drop further to more affordable levels. At the same time, experts are calling for stronger market monitoring and efforts to dismantle market syndicates.
