The president of the combined cultural association Golam Kuddus and Md Ahkam Ullah, General Secretary of Bangladesh Abritti Somonnoy Parishad, expressed disappointment over the inadequate allocation of culture in the newly announced budget.

It is said in the statement that Awami League's commitment to build a modern prosperous Bangladesh that is free from bribery, corruption and sectarianism in the election manifesto is not visible in the announced budget. A perfect nation can never be built by neglecting culture. There is no substitute for goodwill as well as infrastructural facilities and training to build a cultural awakening.

The statement also said that the combined cultural alliance has been urged for a long time for the construction of auditoriums and open stages at the upazila level, construction of auditoriums and rehearsal rooms with modern facilities in every district city and capital, appointment of permanent instructors for drama, music, dance, recitation and fine arts at the district and upazila levels and demanding realistic remuneration for poor artistes. There is no short or long term action plan for the implementation of all these programs in the Finance Minister's new budget. Naturally, this budget disappointed the cultural activists.
