Now, putting all rumours to rest, Sourav Ganguly himself has confirmed the actor is set to play his role in the much-anticipated film.

Initially, reports suggested that Ayushmann Khurrana was the frontrunner for the role, and he had even signed the contract. However, for reasons unknown, he later stepped away from the project. Following this, Ranbir Kapoor's name was rumoured, but he reportedly declined the role.
The latest update reveals that Rajkummar Rao has been finalized to portray Sourav Ganguly. Confirming the news, Sourav stated, "As far as I know, Rajkummar Rao will be playing the lead role. However, due to scheduling issues, the film’s release might be delayed by over a year."
Rajkummar Rao was last seen in Stree 2, a film that performed exceptionally well at the box office. He will next appear in Bhul Chuk Maaf, with its teaser already generating buzz.
