M Rahim's film 'Jongli' (Jungle), released during the Eid festival, has been garnering praise from audiences and has seen an increase in showtimes due to popular demand. Among the six films released this Eid, 'Jongli' is reportedly performing strongly at the box office. The director of the film has now revealed its earnings for the first 16 days.
Since its release on Eid day, 'Jongli' has been running with houseful shows in various branches of cineplexes across Dhaka and likely other parts of Bangladesh. Despite facing initial competition and fewer showtimes compared to 'Borbad' and 'Dagi', the film has received overwhelmingly positive responses from viewers. This has led to continued crowds at theaters to watch 'Jongli' even in its third week.
Amidst this positive reception, director M Rahim shared the box office figures for the first 16 days of 'Jongli's' release. In a Facebook post on Wednesday night (April 16th), he announced that the film has grossed approximately 2 crore 6 lakh taka (20.6 million taka).
In his post, Rahim stated, "Families are laughing and crying together while watching Bengali cinema, while watching 'Jongli'. We are confident that we will be the reason for the laughter and tears of thousands and lakhs more families."
He further added, revealing the earnings, "The total gross collection of 'Jongli' in 16 days is approximately 2 crore 6 lakh taka. Let this love continue, let it keep going."
It has been reported that Siam Ahmed portrays the character who transforms from Jonny to Jongli. In the first half of the film, Siam is seen in his familiar 'chocolate boy' look, but his appearance and performance in the latter part are distinctly different from his previous works. On screen, he is no longer the boy next door but a wild and unruly character, truly embodying the persona of 'Jongli'.
Siam Ahmed plays the lead role in 'Jongli', appearing in multiple looks throughout the film.
Opposite Siam, Prarthana Fardin Dighi and Shabnam Bubly play the female lead roles. The music and arrangements for the film's songs are by Prince Mahmud.
