The Palestinian organization Hamas has agreed to the ceasefire proposal passed by the United Nations Security Council.

IRNA reported this information on Tuesday (June 11th), citing the Palestinian Samaa news agency.

In response to a UN Security Council (UNSC) resolution, Mahmoud al-Mardawi, a senior Hamas official, said their goal was to end Israel's genocidal war in Gaza and establish a ceasefire in the besieged Palestinian territory.

'We welcome the UN Security Council resolution on a ceasefire in Gaza. We are ready to cooperate with the mediators (USA) to implement it,' he said.

'The mediators must obtain a public commitment or agreement from the occupying Israelis on a ceasefire so that we can negotiate,' he added. At the same time, the United States must guarantee this agreement.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in Tel Aviv that plans for Gaza would be discussed after the end of the Israel-Hamas war. The talks will continue Tuesday afternoon and over the next few days. He said this after talks with Israeli leaders.

Earlier on Monday, the United Nations Security Council passed a resolution on the Gaza ceasefire proposed by US President Joe Biden. Details of the proposal have not yet been disclosed.
