Israel launched airstrikes targeting several military sites in Iran early Saturday amid heightened tensions and fears of conflict spreading across the Middle East.

Iran reported that the attacks hit multiple bases in Tehran, Khuzestan, and Ilam provinces. However, the United Nations confirmed that no damage was inflicted on Iran's nuclear facilities.

According to an AFP report on Sunday, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said that Israel’s airstrikes did not impact Iran’s nuclear program. IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, in a post on the social media platform X, stated that Iran’s nuclear sites remained unharmed. He also urged all parties to refrain from actions that could compromise the safety and security of nuclear or radioactive materials.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) stated that the airstrikes specifically targeted Iran’s military installations in response to "months of continuous Iranian attacks."

The White House described the strikes as part of Israel’s "self-defense."

Meanwhile, Iran's Air Defense Force confirmed attacks on bases in Tehran, Khuzestan, and Ilam provinces, claiming they successfully countered the strikes, though some sites suffered "limited damage."

The IDF also reported targeting facilities involved in missile production used against Israel. It added that all aircraft safely returned to Israel after the operation. Furthermore, the strikes targeted Iran's air defense capabilities, including surface-to-air missile systems, according to the IDF.
