Saudi Arabia has imposed a ban on taking children as companions with Hajj pilgrims for the 2025 season. This decision was announced by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in a statement.
The Gulf News, based in the Middle East, confirmed this information in a report on Sunday (February 9).
According to the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah’s statement, the main aim of this decision is to ensure the safety of children from the risks created by the intense crowding during the Hajj pilgrimage. The measure has been taken to maintain children's health and prevent any harm during the journey.
Additionally, priority for the 2025 Hajj season will be given to those who have not performed Hajj previously. For Saudi citizens and residents, the registration for the 2025 Hajj has officially started via the Nusk app and the government’s online portal. Pilgrims must submit their personal information for verification, add companions, and request changes for Mahram online via the Nusk app.
This year, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah has introduced new installment facilities for Hajj pilgrims. Internal pilgrims can now pay for their Hajj package in three installments. The first installment, 20% of the total cost, must be paid within 72 hours of booking. The second and third installments, each 40%, must be paid by Ramadan 20 and Shawwal 20, respectively.
The Ministry has urged pilgrims to prepare adequately. Through the Nusk platform, pilgrims can select their preferred packages, recharge e-wallets, and complete other formalities quickly. Every year, millions of Muslims from around the world travel to Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj. Given the severe crowding and security concerns, children will not be permitted to accompany pilgrims this year.
