Following the collapse of the most recent ceasefire, Israeli forces have resumed their relentless bombardment of the besieged Gaza Strip. With each passing day, the intensity of the attacks escalates, leaving a growing trail of devastation. The ongoing assaults by Israeli forces have turned Gaza into a graveyard, with the death toll rising steadily.
The humanitarian crisis has worsened dramatically, as most of Gaza's hospitals have been reduced to rubble. The few medical facilities still functioning are overwhelmed and running out of space. As a result, hundreds of injured Palestinians are dying in agony due to a lack of treatment.
Women and children are bearing the brunt of the Israeli offensive. According to the United Nations, since the ceasefire was broken on March 18, at least 100 children have been killed or injured every day in Gaza. The report, cited by Al Jazeera, underscores the scale of the unfolding tragedy.
Philippe Lazzarini, head of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), warned that the situation is deteriorating rapidly and the humanitarian crisis has reached a critical level. Thousands of children have lost limbs and are suffering from severe psychological trauma.
Meanwhile, Gaza's Al-Ahli Hospital is overwhelmed and can no longer accommodate the injured. Following an Israeli assault early Friday, April 4, which killed at least 38 Palestinians and wounded over a hundred, the hospital's director reported that there is no room left for new patients.
According to Gaza's Ministry of Health, 86 people died in the hospital in the past 24 hours alone. Since the beginning of Israel's assault on October 7, 2023, at least 50,609 Palestinians have been killed and 115,063 injured.
However, Gaza's Government Media Office claims the actual death toll has surpassed 62,000, as thousands more remain missing under the rubble and are presumed dead.
