At least 38 people have been killed and another 102 injured in a US airstrike on the Ras Issa oil terminal in Yemen. Reuters reported this information, citing the Houthi-run news outlet Al Masirah.

Qatar-based news agency Al Jazeera also reported the information on Friday (April 18th), citing Houthi-run media.

Al Masirah TV, quoting the country's health affairs office, stated that the US military's strike aimed to cut off the Houthi militant group's fuel supply. The attack resulted in 38 deaths and 102 injuries.

The Pentagon has not immediately commented on the casualty figures provided by the Houthis.

However, US Central Command said in a post on X that the purpose of the strike was to degrade the Houthis' economic sources of power.

The United States launched a large-scale offensive against the Houthis last month, stating that it would not stop until the Houthis cease their attacks on ships in the Red Sea.

Since November 2023, the Houthis have carried out numerous drone and missile attacks on vessels traveling in the Red Sea. The Houthis claim that their attacks target ships linked to Israel in protest against the Gaza war.

They halted ship attacks during a two-month ceasefire in Gaza. However, after Israel's offensive in Gaza resumed last month, the Houthis threatened to resume attacks on ships in the Red Sea. They have not yet claimed responsibility for any attacks.

Thursday's strike is one of the largest since Donald Trump assumed power in January.

Houthi officials reported that more than 50 people were killed in two days of US attacks in March.
