9 Dead in Austrian School Shooting

A total of nine people, including the assailant, have died in a shooting at an Austrian school. The incident occurred today, Tuesday (June 10), at a school in the city of Graz.

Police stated that the attack took place at Dreierschützengasse School today, resulting in multiple casualties. However, the exact number of fatalities was not immediately clear.

British media outlet BBC, citing several sources in the country, reported that nine bodies were found after the attack, including what is believed to be the assailant's body.

Meanwhile, local mayor Elke Kahr informed APA news agency that the suspected gunman is among the deceased. A police spokesperson stated that the gunman was a student at the school.

Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung reported that the first sounds of gunfire were heard around 10 AM, and the attack occurred in two classrooms.

Reports from the country's media also indicate that such attacks in Austrian schools are extremely rare. This is considered the largest shooting incident in their history.

It is known that the gunman terrorized the school for approximately one hour before police arrived. State-owned media outlet ORF reported that the gunman is believed to have committed suicide afterward.

The location of the attack is approximately 200 kilometers away from Austria's second-largest city and capital, Vienna.
