After nearly two weeks of intense conflict, a ceasefire has commenced between Iran and Israel. Both Iranian and Israeli media outlets have confirmed the start of the ceasefire, though confusion remains regarding its exact timing and conditions.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced on social media that Israel and Iran had agreed to a "complete and comprehensive" ceasefire. This information was reported by US media outlet CNN on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
According to CNN, several Iranian and Israeli news outlets have stated that the ceasefire between the two nations has taken effect. However, there is still no clarity on exactly when or under what conditions this ceasefire began.
President Trump initially announced the ceasefire in a social media post, stating it would become effective approximately six hours after his announcement. By his calculations, the ceasefire was expected to begin around 12:00 AM Eastern Time.
Shortly after, Iranian state media outlet Press TV ran a headline stating, "Ceasefire takes effect after Iran's four-point attack on Israeli-occupied territories." Iran's semi-official news agency Tasnim, in a one-line message on its Telegram channel, stated that the ceasefire had entered the "implementation phase."
Israeli news outlets Channel 12 and Ynet also reported that the ceasefire had begun. However, Iranian state media went a step further, claiming the ceasefire was "imposed on the enemy," though they did not specify an exact time.
Meanwhile, the Israeli government has not yet issued any official statement regarding the ceasefire, leaving lingering ambiguity and uncertainty.
