10 Devotees Killed in Bus Accident on Way to Kumbh Mela

Ten devotees were killed and 19 others injured after being hit by a bus while traveling to the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India.

According to an NDTV report, the accident occurred on Saturday in the Meja area of the Prayagraj-Mirzapur highway when a Bolero vehicle collided with a bus.

The victims were pilgrims from Korba district in Chhattisgarh, heading to the Kumbh Mela to bathe at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati rivers.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been informed about the incident and has ordered immediate medical aid and other support measures.

Earlier this week, seven people were killed in Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh when a mini-bus collided with a truck while returning from the Kumbh Mela.

On January 29, a stampede at the Maha Kumbh resulted in 30 deaths and 60 injuries. The Maha Kumbh Mela, which began on January 13, will continue until February 26.
