United States President Donald Trump has conveyed his greetings to the people of Bangladesh and Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus on the occasion of their Independence Day. The message from President Trump was published on the Chief Advisor's Facebook page on Thursday morning (March 27).
In his message, President Trump stated, "On behalf of the American people, I extend my best wishes to Bangladesh and its people on your Independence Day. This time of change offers an opportunity for the people of Bangladesh to build their capacity for greater democracy, economic progress, and security."
President Trump further added, "I send my sincere good wishes to Bangladesh and its people on this Independence Day celebration."
Affirming his commitment to advancing the relationship between the two countries, he said, "The United States looks forward to continuing our partnership in this important year ahead. I am hopeful that we can advance our bilateral economic development, work together to strengthen our relationship, and promote regional security in the Indo-Pacific region In a statement issued on Tuesday (March 25), the Secretary of State congratulated the Bangladeshi people and reaffirmed the commitment to working together to make both countries more secure, stronger, and more prosperous.
In the statement, the US Secretary of State noted that this year's Independence Day is being celebrated at a crucial juncture in Bangladesh's history, as the interim government prepares to hold elections.
