A small plane has crashed into a residential neighborhood in San Diego, USA, with fears that all passengers aboard have been killed. Among the presumed victims is Dave Shapiro, a prominent music agent.
British news outlet BBC reports that Shapiro was the co-founder of Sound Talent Group, whose client roster includes rock bands like Sum 41, Story of the Year, and Pierce the Veil.
Daniel Williams, the former drummer of the band The Devil Wears Prada, is also feared to be among the victims. Media reports indicate he had posted on social media from the plane.
Federal officials state that there were six people on board the aircraft, and all are presumed dead.
The crash also destroyed a house in the Murphy Canyon neighborhood and affected ten other individuals.
A spokesperson for the San Diego Fire Department told CNN that the crashed aircraft was a Cessna 550 model, also known as a Citation. The plane crashed near Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport around 3:45 AM.
These private planes are typically used for business purposes and can carry six to eight passengers.
In a statement to the BBC, a spokesperson for Sound Talent Group said, "We are mourning the loss of our co-founder, colleague, and friends." The company confirmed they lost "three employees, including Shapiro, in the plane crash." The identities of the others have not yet been released.
San Diego authorities have confirmed at least two fatalities in the accident, though the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has stated the total number of deceased is still unclear. Authorities have not released the names of any victims.
According to flight tracking site FlightAware, the plane departed from Teterboro Airport outside New York City on Wednesday night. It then landed in Wichita, Kansas, for an hour before heading towards San Diego, where the accident occurred.
The crashed aircraft belonged to a private Alaskan company and was manufactured in 1985.
