2 crore 19 lakh children to be fed vitamin A on Saturday

State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Zahid Malik said, two crore 19 lakh children will be fed vitamin A capsules on next Saturday (July 14).

He said this at a press conference held at the conference room of commerce ministry on Thursday.

Zahid Malik said, on Saturday from 8 am to 4 pm all the children aged between 6-11 months will be fed a blue colored vitamin A capsule (1 lakh IU) each and the children aged between 12-59 months will be fed a red colored vitamin A capsule (2 lakh IU) each.

He said, Institution of Public Health Nutrition will conduct the programs with all out cooperation from Health and Family Welfare Ministry. The program will be conducted through one lakh 20 thousand permanent centers and additional 20 thousand mobile centers throughout the country.

The State Minister said, in the remote areas door to door searching activities will be conducted at 240 unions under 42 upazilas of 12 districts as part of the campaign on the following four days (July 15-19).

He said, as well as the capsule feeding activity different nutritionals messages such as home made food feeding along with breast feeding will be delivered in the campaign when the child is six months old.

He also said, through the ‘vitamin A plus campaign’ 25 lakh 6-11 months old children and one crore 94 lakh 12-59 months old children will be fed vitamin A.
