Economist Dr. Reza Kibria has been made the new general secretary of Gonoforum replacing Mostafa Mohsin Montu who played his role for the post for last eight years. Dr. Kamal Hossain was reelected as president of the party.
Dr. Kamal Hossain declared the new committee of Gonoforum at National Press Club on Sunday.
Reza Kibria took part in the last general election under banner of Jatiya Oikyafront after joining the party before the election. Reza Kibria, son of late Awami League finance minister Shah AMS Kibria, has been playing active role in the party after joining Gonoforum.
In the new committee Dr. Kamal Hossain was reelected as president. Professor Abu Sayeed and Subrata Chowdhury were made executive presidents. Besides, 13-member presidium council’s name was also declared. There names of elected Member of Parliament Mokabbir Khan and outgoing general secretary Mostafa Mohsin Montu were not mentioned.
A special council of Gonoforum was held on April 26. Montu was not present in the council. According to their party constitution council will be held in every three years of interval.
After forming Gonoforum in 1992 several persons played their role as general secretary of the party. They are- Abul Maal Abdul Muhith, engineer Abul Kashem, Saifuddin Ahmed Manik, advocate Subrata Chowdhury (acting) and from 2011 Mostafa Mohsin Montu was playing role for the post.
