Imranur won gold at Asian Indoor Athletics Championships
Yesterday was a special day for Bangladesh athletics. Imranur Rahman, from Bangladesh, won gold in the 60m sprint at the Asian Indoor Athletics Championships. This is the biggest success for Bangladesh athletics on the Asian stage.
Imranur Rahman, the current fastest man of Bangladesh, created history by winning the gold medal in the 60-metre race in the competition held in Astana, Kazakhstan. He clocked 6.59 seconds. Before Imranur, no one from Bangladesh could win gold at this level.
Yesterday morning, Imranur became the first to reach the semi-finals in the heat of the second day of the competition. Then he took 6.70 seconds.
His personal best timing till then was 6.64 seconds. Imranur did this timing at the World Indoor Athletics in Belgrade last year.
Yesterday afternoon he took 6.61 seconds in the semi of Asian Indoor Athletics Championships. Broke his previous record.
Yesterdy at night he took 6.59 seconds in the final. This is the career best timing.
