Ajinkya Rahane in World Test Championship squad
India named a 15-man squad for the final of the Test Championship on Tuesday, April 25. Ajinkya Rahane back in the test squad. That is the only surprise in the India's Test team.
The series India vs Australia will start from June 7 at Kennington Oval, London.
Ajinkya Rahane was dropped from team after the Test against South Africa last year. The 34-year-old veteran batsman is back in the squad after almost a year and a half.
In the final team of the World Test Championship, India included the batsman, who recently showed an extraordinary performance in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).
BCCI has named a 15-man squad for the final of the Test Championship today, April 24. That is the only surprise in the Test team.
After being dropped, Rahane scored 634 runs at an average of 57.63 in the 2022-23 Ranji Trophy. In the ongoing IPL, he has scored 209 runs so far in 5 matches at a strike rate of 199.04 for Chennai Super Kings.
Shreyas Iyer's injury also played a role in Rahane's comeback. Due to injury, the right-handed batter is not playing in the IPL.
Ajinkya Rahane, who back in the test team, is also a strong contender for a place in the playing XI. Because KL Rahul has been out of tune for a long time. He also lost the vice-captaincy.
India kept Suryakumar Yadav in the middle order in the last Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. However, Suryakumar lost his place because he could not show his calibre.
Srikar Bharat is filling in as a keeper batsman. Rahul can be considered as a backup.
India has kept four pacers in the squad. Jaydev Unadkat is with Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav.
Besides, Shardul Thakur, the pace all-rounder. There are two spinning all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin.
Aksar Patel also retained the place.

Point to be noted, India are the current runners-up in the World Test Championship. Last time, India lost against New Zealand in the final.
