Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hassan Papon has resigned.

India Takes Lead in T20 Series by Crushing Bangladesh
Bangladesh failed to put up any competition in the two-match Test series against India. However, the Tigers aimed to bounce back in the T20 series. Despite their hopes, Bangladesh couldn’t stand up to the reigning T20 champions, as India thrashed them by 7 wickets in the first match.
On Sunday, October 6, in Gwalior, Bangladesh set a target of 128 for India after batting first. India comfortably chased it down with 49 balls and 7 wickets in hand, taking a 1-0 lead in the T20 series.
Indian openers Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson started strong in the chase. Abhishek was run out for 16 off 7 balls, but Suryakumar Yadav came in and quickly added runs with boundaries.
With the help of their top-order batsmen, India cruised towards victory. Despite Indian captain Suryakumar getting out after scoring 29 off 14 balls, Samson contributed 29 off 19 balls. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Hardik Pandya then took charge.
In the end, Nitish's 16 runs and Pandya's explosive 39 off 16 balls led India to a comfortable win, securing victory with 49 balls and 7 wickets to spare.
For Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman and Mehidy Hasan Miraz each took one wicket.
Earlier, Bangladesh, after losing the toss and being asked to bat, had a shaky start. Liton Kumar was dismissed for 4 runs, while fellow opener Parvez Emon managed just 8 runs off 9 balls. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Towhid Hridoy tried to stabilize the innings.
Despite their efforts, Hridoy was caught out after scoring 12 off 18 balls. Veteran Mahmudullah couldn’t make an impact either, getting out for just 1 run. When Zakir Ali Anik fell for 8 off 6 balls, Bangladesh found themselves in trouble at 57/5.
After Shanto’s dismissal for 27 off 25 balls, Mehidy Hasan Miraz held on, but the lower order crumbled. Rishad (11), Taskin (12), Shoriful (0), and Mustafizur (1) all fell quickly, leaving Bangladesh all out for 127 with just one ball remaining. Miraz remained unbeaten on 35 off 32 balls.

The curtain came down on the tenth edition of the FIFA Futsal World Cup Uzbekistan 2024™ in dramatic style, as Brazil made history in Tashkent by beating Argentina 2-1 to win a record-extending sixth title, adding to the ones they claimed in 1989, 1992, 1996, 2008 and 2012.
In a historic final – the first between two teams from South America – Ferrão (5'47") and Rafael (12'34") gave Brazil a 2-0 half-time lead before Argentina ended a period of incessant pressure by pulling one back through Matías Rosa (38’00”). Brazil clung on for a dramatic last two minutes to hand Argentina, the champions in 2016, a second successive Final defeat and only their second loss in their last 21 FIFA Futsal World Cup matches.
Brazil, who have won five out of they six finals they have appeared in, finished the tournament with seven wins from seven games and only six goals conceded, their best-ever defensive performance.
The evening began with the third-place playoff, which ended with Ukraine claiming bronze and their best-ever FIFA Futsal World Cup finish; with a 7-1 victory against France – who were making their first ever appearance at the Finals.
Despite ending with familiar winners – the tenth edition of futsal’s greatest competition was a tournament of firsts. It was the first time FIFA had staged an event in Central Asia; with more than 150,000 fans attending the games spread between the three host cities of Tashkent, Andijan and Bukhara.
The tournament – which featured 24 teams from all six confederations – was also broadcast or streamed live in over 175 territories around the world – as the popularity of the game of futsal continues to grow at an exponential rate.
It was also the first time four nations took to courts on the highest stage of them all – as New Zealand, Tajikistan and Afghanistan joined France in competing in the FIFA Futsal World Cup for the first time.

Rangpur Riders Set to Play in Global Super League in Guyana
The Rangpur Riders, a team from the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), have been given the opportunity to participate in the Global Super League, which will be held in Guyana, West Indies, featuring teams from five countries.
The Global Super League is set to begin on November 26, with the final scheduled for December 7. Guyana Amazon Warriors will represent the West Indies, while teams from England, Australia, Pakistan, and Bangladesh will also participate.
Although Fortune Barishal, the current BPL champions, initially had the chance to join the tournament, they declined due to insufficient time to form a team. Runners-up Comilla Victorians also opted out of the upcoming BPL season. As a result, the opportunity has been passed to the semifinalist Rangpur Riders.
Speaking to the media on October 7, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Faruk Ahmed said, "The Global Super League will feature five teams from five countries: Bangladesh, Pakistan, the West Indies, England, and Australia. We've been invited, and it’s likely that Rangpur Riders, the BPL semifinalists, will represent Bangladesh."
In the Global Super League, all teams will play against each other in the group stage, with the top two advancing to the final. Meanwhile, Bangladesh is scheduled to play a Test series against the West Indies from November 22 to December 4, followed by three ODIs and three T20 matches.
Mohammedan to Play in India’s IFA Shield
Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited, a team from the Bangladesh Premier League, has received an invitation to participate in India's prestigious IFA Shield tournament. The tournament is set to take place from November 9 to 21.
Last year, both Mohammedan and Bashundhara Kings were invited to play in the IFA Shield, but neither team participated due to domestic league commitments. This year, only Mohammedan has been invited.
If Mohammedan participates, they will be the only club from outside India in this year’s edition of the IFA Shield. The club sees the tournament as an opportunity to prepare for the upcoming season, according to Mohammedan's Director and Football Committee Secretary, Abu Hasan Chowdhury Prince.
He stated, “On Wednesday, we received a formal invitation from the IFA organizers. The chairman of our football committee has given the green light, and I’ve discussed it with our manager, Imtiaz Ahmed Nakib. We are going to participate. The IFA has requested us to submit a list of 24 members. We plan to send a squad of 22 players along with 8 coaches and officials, and we will confirm our participation within two days.”

Bolivia's fortunes have taken a dramatic upturn since the team started playing qualifiers in El Alto, which is just over 500m higher than the Bolivians' usual home venue of the Estadio Hernando Siles in nearby La Paz.
Bolivia opted to move fixtures to El Alto after losing two out of their opening three home qualifiers in La Paz last year.

After claiming a shock 2-1 win away to Chile last month, Bolivia are now sitting in sixth place in the South American standings with 12 points from nine games.
