ICC Test Championship: Bangladesh Moves Up from Sixth to Fifth

Due to torrential rain, the third day of the Kanpur Test was abandoned. While there was no good news about getting on the field, the Bangladesh team found something to celebrate elsewhere. Pakistan vs Bangladesh Live Score, 2nd Test Day 2
After persistent rain washed out the opening day of the second Test, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bowl first when the toss was finally held on Day 2.
Bangladesh leads the two-match series 1-0 after it notched a historic 10-wicket win at the same venue last week when Pakistan was bowled out for an embarrassing 146 in the second innings on the fifth and final day.
Players and team officials stayed in the hotel and umpires called off the play at 12:05 p.m. local time with rain still pouring down and leaving the outfield submerged.
Both teams are in the bottom half of the World Test Championship standings with Bangladesh at No. 7 and Pakistan at No. 8, just above last-place West Indies.

Pakistan dropped rusty fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi and named another left-armer Mir Hamza along with leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed in its 12-man squad.
Afridi, who was playing his first test in eight months, was ineffective and had to wait until Pakistan took the third new ball to claim 2-88 as Bangladesh replied to Pakistan’s 448-6 declared with a strong total of 565.
Abrar was surprisingly released from the first test squad and was asked to play in a four-day game against Bangladesh ‘A’ in Islamabad and Pakistan’s ploy to go with an all-out pace attack in a home test match after 28 years backfired.
In contrast left-arm spinner Shakib Al Hasan and off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz took seven wickets in between them on a dramatic fifth day to skittle out Pakistan for its lowest-ever total against Bangladesh in 14 test matches.
Bangladesh batters, led by Mushfiqur Rahim’s resilient 191, were also among the runs with Shadman Islam, Mominul Haque, Litton Das and Mehidy all scoring meaningful half centuries.

Franco Armani has retired from the Argentina national team. Armani has stepped aside from the Argentina national team after winning four trophies.
This 37-year-old goalkeeper stated that he spoke with Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni and with the goalkeeper coach Martín Tocalli about his decision, stating that his cycle is completed.

"The fact that is my decision to retire and that I’m not retired because of injuries or that they stop calling me for one thing or another, gives me a lot of comfort, it helps me individually," Suarez said.
"It's difficult but it gives me peace of mind that until the last game, I have given my all, and that flame has not been extinguished little by little," the striker added.
Regarded as one of the best South American footballers in the 21st century, Suarez has a lasting legacy at Barcelona as well.
During his six-year spell in Catalonia, the Uruguayan had netted almost 200 goals in just 283 competitive matches. He was also a part of the revered attacking trio that was known as 'MSN', alongside Lionel Messi and Neymar.
Suarez last played for Inter Miami in the US Major Soccer League. He moved to the United States earlier this year to play with his friend Messi.
Pakistan Faces 'Banglawash' on Their Home Turf!

Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus called national cricket team captain Najmul Hossain Shanto by phone to congratulate him and his team for their historic Test win against Pakistan on Tuesday (September 03).
"Heartiest congratulations on behalf of the government and myself. The whole nation is proud of you," the Chief Adviser told Shanto after Bangladesh completed a six-wicket victory in the Second Test in Rawalpindi to complete a 2-0 clean sweep victory in the two-Test series.
Dr Yunus said the Bangladesh team would be accorded a reception after they returned home.

The history of Bangladesh Test cricket started on November 10, 2000, with a one-match series against India. Even after 24 years, the Tigers regretted not being able to do well in Tests against big teams. Shanto to discuss Shakib issue with Chief Adviser
Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto has expressed his keenness to discuss the issue of Shakib Al Hasan with the Chief Adviser of Bangladesh's interim government, Prof Muhammad Yunus.
A legal notice was sent to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to remove Shakib from the national team after he was charged with murder. The BCB, however, cleared its stance, saying that the allrounder can continue to play until he is proven guilty.
Shakib played an important role in Bangladesh's historic series sweep against Pakistan and also hit the winning boundary in the second Test.
After the unforgettable success, Muhammad Yunus called Bangladesh captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto. Besides congratulating the team, he said that the team would be accorded a reception after returning home. The reception is scheduled to take place within a couple of days.
Shakib won't be present at the reception as he went to the UK straight from Pakistan to play a County Championship match for Surrey.
"As I said before, Shakib's case is different. If the issue is discussed with the Chief Adviser during the reception, every player will be on the side of Shakib," Shanto said, replying to a query after the Tigers returned home from Pakistan in the early hours of today.
Shakib participated in the last parliamentary elections for the ruling Awami League. However, he was out of the country during the student-led Anti-Discrimination movement that led to the ouster of autocratic ruler Sheikh Hasina.
After playing the Major Cricket League in the USA and Global T20 League in Canada, Shakib directly joined Pakistan. The murder case was filed against him during the first Test.
Despite being in various problems, Shakib performed well in the Test series, earning praise from captain Shanto.
"Every player is by the side of Shakib. We all know how dedicated he is. He is crazy about playing and always tries to contribute to the team."
