Bangladesh secured the SAFF Women’s Championship title for the second consecutive time, stunning thousands of home fans at the Dasharath Rangasala Stadium in Nepal. This marks the sixth time Nepal’s hopes have been crushed, as they lost the title to Bangladesh in the previous tournament as well.

On Wednesday (October 30), Bangladesh clinched a 2-1 victory.

After a lackluster first half from both teams, the match came to life in the second half. The defending champions took the lead in the 52nd minute. Following a series of passes between Tahura and Sabina Khatun, Monika Chakma fired a diagonal shot from the right edge of the penalty box, beating the Nepalese goalkeeper.

Nepal quickly equalized just two minutes later. Rupna Chakma, Bangladesh’s goalkeeper, could not stop a shot from Amisha, allowing the hosts to level the score.

In the 81st minute, Bangladesh launched another attack from the left wing. Rituporna Chakma received the ball near the corner kick zone, battling two Nepalese defenders. She managed to take a shot, and though the Nepalese goalkeeper got a hand on it, she couldn’t stop it from going in, giving Bangladesh a 2-1 lead.
