Late Drama as Celta Vigo Stages Stunning Comeback Against Barcelona
Barcelona’s grip on victory slipped away in dramatic fashion on Saturday at Balaídos, as a late red card for Marc Casadó paved the way for Celta Vigo to erase a two-goal deficit and secure a 2-2 draw in La Liga. Despite commanding the match with goals from Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski, the Catalans were left shell-shocked by a spirited comeback from the hosts.
Raphinha opened the scoring in the 15th minute with a precise finish from Jules Koundé’s long pass, continuing his stellar season with 13 goals and 10 assists across all competitions.
Lewandowski extended the lead in the 61st minute, capitalizing on a defensive lapse to net his 20th goal in just 18 appearances this season. At 2-0, Barcelona appeared to be cruising toward another victory.
However, the tide turned in the 82nd minute when Casadó was sent off, leaving Barcelona vulnerable at the back. Celta Vigo seized the opportunity with quick goals from Alfonso González and Hugo Álvarez in the 84th and 86th minutes, stunning the league leaders and rescuing a crucial point.
Despite staying atop the table with 34 points, Barcelona’s second consecutive setback has tightened the title race, with Atlético Madrid and Real Madrid looming close behind.
