The Bangladesh national football team is set to face India in the third round of the Asian Cup qualifiers on Tuesday, March 25th, in Shillong. Coach Javier Cabrera announced a 24-member squad for this crucial match on Thursday, March 20th.
The squad features Hamza Dewan Choudhury, the FA Cup winner with Leicester City, currently on loan at Sheffield United, who is in line to make his debut for Bangladesh. As previously announced, Fahmidul Islam, who plays for Italian club Olbia Calcio, was not included in the squad.
Cabrera's squad largely consists of regular players, so there are few surprises.
All 27 players who returned from the conditioning camp in Saudi Arabia were present at the national team's official photo session yesterday. Three players were dropped when the final squad was announced. Arif, Pias Ahmed Nova, and Taj Uddin received the news of their exclusion last night. In addition to Hamza, forward Al Amin is a new face in the squad.
