The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast storms accompanied by rain in several districts by noon today.
In a forecast issued for inland river ports, effective until 1 pm Monday (April 28), authorities warned that temporary gusty or squally winds, reaching speeds of 45 to 60 kilometers per hour, could sweep over Rangpur, Dinajpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Dhaka, Tangail, Mymensingh, and Sylhet, moving from the west or northwest.
As a precaution, river ports in these regions have been instructed to display warning signal number 1.
Additionally, a post on the Bangladesh Meteorological Department's official Facebook page stated that by 11 am, thunderstorms with gusty winds at speeds of 45 to 60 kilometres per hour or higher could affect Rangpur, Mymensingh, Pabna, Tangail, Netrokona, Sunamganj, Sylhet, Habiganj, Moulvibazar, Kishoreganj, and Brahmanbaria districts.
Safety Guidelines During Thunderstorms:
- Move indoors immediately upon hearing thunder.
- Keep windows and doors securely closed.
- Avoid travelling if possible.
- Seek shelter in a safe location.
- Do not take shelter under trees.
- Avoid lying on concrete floors or leaning against concrete walls.
- Unplug all electronic devices.
- Stay away from water bodies.
- Maintain distance from electrical conductors.
- Stay indoors when hail begins.
