Bangladesh stop after scoring 280 runs

Even with help of Shakib Al Hasan’s century Bangladesh could not avert the defeat. At last Bangladesh’s score stopped on 280 in 48.5 overs. England with their tremendous performance beat Bangladesh by 106 runs.

Both the openers of Bangladesh team could not contribute enough runs on the scoreboard. Soumya was out for just scoring 2 runs. Tamim Iqbal was out when the total runs were 63 in the twelfth over. Tamin scored 19 of 29 deliveries. After that Mushfiqur made a brilliant hundred plus runs partnership with Shakib Al Hasan. Before being out Mushfique scored 44 runs of 50 balls when the scoreboard showed 169 with loss of 3 wickets. Mithun faced two balls and was out for duck. In the meantime Shakib completed his century facing only 95 deliveries. Bangladesh reached in the 200 runs mark on the 37th over. The fifth wicket fell when Shakib got out after scoring 121 runs of 119 balls and the total runs were 219 on the 40th over. Bangladesh lost their 6th wicket in 254 runs, Mosaddek was out scoring 25 runs of 15 balls. Then Mahmudullah departed after scoring 28 runs. Mehidy, Mashrafe and Mustafiz could not contribute enough.

England’s Archer and Stokes bagged three wickets each.

Earlier, batting first two English openers foiled all the plans of Bangladesh. The opening pair broke when the total runs were 128. Bairstaw departed after scoring 51 runs of 50 deliveries. Miraz got the catch bowled by Mashrafe. Then another opener Jason Roy went for a big collection along with Joe Root. They made a 77 runs partnership. In the 32nd over Saifuddin bowled out Root after he scored 21 runs. In the 35th over Mashrafe took the catch of Jason Roy. But the damage for Bangladesh was done. Roy scored highest individual total of this world cup- 153 runs of just facing 121 balls. Then Butler scored 64 runs of 44 balls and got out by Miraz. English captain Eoin Morgan scored 35 of 33 balls. Ben Stokes was out by Mustafiz scoring 6 runs. Till the last end Plunket was not out 27 and Oakes was not out 18. The total runs were 386 for loss of six wickets.

Bangladesh’ Saifuddin and Miraz took two wickets each while Mashrafe and Mustafiz bagged one each.
