Cyclone Remal: All Govt Officials Leave Cancelled
State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief, Mohibur Rahman said that the leave of officials and employees of all ministries, including the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, has been canceled to deal with disasters and stand by the affected people.
He said this after a meeting of the inter-ministerial disaster management coordination committee at the conference room of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief at the Secretariat on Sunday.
State minister said more than 8 lakh people have already come to the shelter centers. The rest are invited to come. Schools in coastal areas will remain open for the time being, but classes will remain suspended. Besides, the state minister also announced the closure of Bangabandhu Tunnel from this evening to Monday (May 27) morning.
Meanwhile, the maritime ports of Payra and Mongla have been asked to hoist great danger signal number 10 to avoid damage to cyclone Remal. At the same time, the Meteorological Department has asked Chattogram and Cox's Bazar seaports to hoist great signal number 9.
