Bangladesh stands top of human trafficking in Europe by sea

Human trafficking in Europe rises day by day. 12% died while crossing Europe illegally. In the last five years, 247 human trafficking cases were reported in Madaripur of which 1 thousand 252 are accused. Although only 164 people were detained. But not a single one punished. Bangladesh is at the top of the list to reach Europe by crossing the Mediterranean Sea. In the first 4 months of the current calendar, 21% of the people who entered Europe through this dangerous route are Bangladeshis.

According to UN statistics, Bangladesh is at the top of the list of people crossing the Mediterranean Sea to reach Europe. Its amount is 21%. Among them, 12% of Bangladeshis are dying.

According to local people, it is better not to go abroad on such a risky route. Many people have died or never come back. But no one should go abroad in such a way.

Still it is a burning question, why Bangladeshis going on this path, one of the deadliest route in the world? When asked about this to a person named Bandhan Mandal, who survived the boat, said that, 'After preparing to go abroad, I was told that the visa will be done within 1 year. 1 lakh was paid for this. But 1 was payable after receiving the visa. They take 30 thousand Tk. and the rest they not to return to me. Later we had to choose the way from Libya, is called Libya Game

Madaripur is one of the illegal immigration areas of Bangladesh. According to calculations, in the last decade, many Bangladeshis have died on their way to Italy by crossing the Mediterranean Sea, many of whom live in this Rajoir upazila.
