3 lakh people traveling on metro rail every day: Obaidul Quader

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that the popularity of Metrorail is constantly increasing. Now three lakh people are traveling in metro rail every day.

The Minister of Road Transport and Bridges revealed this information in a question and answer session of Awami League organized by Member of Parliament M. Abdul Latif in the session of the National Parliament on Thursday (June 27). The question and answer table was presented under the chairmanship of Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury.

In response to a question about bus route rationalization in the capital, Obaidul Quader said that initially 9 clusters of different colors, 22 companies and 42 routes have been proposed for the implementation of bus route rationalization (rearrangement). Among them, six clusters are urban transport and three clusters are suburban transport.

Pointing out that the government is implementing various initiatives to bring order to the capital's public transport, he said that the people of Dhaka metropolis and surrounding areas are enjoying the benefits of commuting by metro rail in a safe, comfortable and short time. Three lakh people are traveling by metro rail every day.
