Ashik Chowdhury of Bangladesh set a world record by jumping from a flying plane with the flag of Bangladesh. He set this record in Guinness's 'Greatest Distance Freefall with a Banner/Flag' category. Guinness World Records published the news on their website on Monday (July 1).

This record was held by Indian skydiver Jithin Vijayan before Ashik Chowdhuy.

In this regard, Ashik Chowdhury said, I made a free fall from a height of 41,795 feet with the flag of Bangladesh in hand. The person before me who set this record was from 36,929 feet. After receiving information from the World Air Sports Federation, I was pretty sure that the record would be mine this time. Now that it's officially announced, it feels good to finally be on record.

It is known that Indian skydiver Jithin Vijayan's record of jumping with the flag was 36 thousand 929 feet 13 inches. Ashik Chowdhury landed it with the flag up to a distance of 37 thousand 296 feet 58 inches. Ashik Chowdhury has applied for another Guinness record called 'Longest Outdoor Flat Free Fall'. That too is currently in the possession of India's Jithin.

On May 25, Ashik Chowdhury attempted to set a world record by skydiving from a plane in Memphis, USA. His record-setting venture is called 'The Largest Flag Flown in the Stratosphere'.

A judge from the World Air Sports Federation was present during this attempt of Ashik. The agency, which monitors records of aerial stunts, sent detailed statistics of Ashik's jump in early June. It can be seen that Ashik jumped from a plane flying at a height of 41 thousand 795 feet. He raised the national flag after coming down at a height of 37 thousand 297 feet. Then hold the flag for 2 minutes and 50 seconds. After reaching a height of 4,498 feet, he opened the parachute on his back to land on the ground. In this, Ashik broke two World Air Sports Federation world records.

It may be noted that Ashik jumped with a flag of about 7 square feet to set the world record.
