Bangladeshi workforce in Oman are contributing to both economies: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today said Bangladeshi expatriate workers is making significant contributions to the socioeconomic development of both countries.

PM said this while Oman's Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdul Ghaffar Bin Abdul Karim Al-Bulushi made a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Ganobhaban on Thursday (July 2).

PM's press secretary Nayeemul Islam Khan briefed reporters after the meeting.

The ambassador agreed with the Prime Minister and said, 'It is true and they are working for the both economies.'

Abdul Ghaffar mentioned that Oman has been maintaining 7% GDP growth for a long time and it expects to attain a double-digit level of growth and the Bangladeshi expatriate workers are contributing to it.

He also said the Oman government has proposed (G2G) agreement with the Bangladesh government. Prime Minister said the Bangladesh government would examine the proposal.

The ambassador said Bangladesh's graduation to a developing country from a LDC category would be better if that is led by Sheikh Hasina.
