PM to go Thailand in September to attend BIMSTEC Summit

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will visit Bangkok, Thailand in the first week of September to attend the BIMSTEC Summit, said Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud.

He gave this information while informing the journalists about the recently held BIMSTEC ministerial meeting in Delhi at the Ministry of External Affairs on Sunday (July 14).

Hasan Mahmud said, the consensus reached at the BIMSTEC ministerial meeting is that the BIMSTEC conference will be held on September 4. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the heads of government of BIMSTEC member countries will attend the conference.

He said, we will be the next chairman of BIMSTEC. I will take charge as the new chair after the BIMSTEC summit. That is why this meeting was very important for us.

When asked whether there was any discussion about the Prime Minister's visit to China during the Foreign Minister's visit to India, Hasan Mahmud said, 'There was no discussion between us about the China visit.'
