4 killed in clashes in Uttara, Badda and Savar
4 people were killed in clashes between police and RAB with the quota reform agitators in Uttara, Badda and Savar bus stand areas of Dhaka. Hundreds of protestors were injured.
These casualties occurred in the clashes that lasted from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm on Thursday (July 18).
It has been reported that 2 people were killed in a clash between the police and the students of Northern University in Dhaka's Uttara. Another person was killed in a clash between private university students and the police in Badda and Rampura areas of the capital. On the other hand, a student was killed in police firing in Savar.
Bangladesh Medical doctor Ruknuzzaman confirmed that the students of Northern University in Uttara were killed. He said that 2 students were killed in the clash. Hundreds more students are receiving treatment in the hospital. Some of them are in critical condition.
One person was killed and more than a hundred people were injured in a clash between police and students in Badda-Rampura area of the capital. When he was brought to Faraji Hospital in critical condition around 12:30 noon, the doctor declared him dead.
It is known that the deceased's name is Dulal Matbar. He is a driver by profession. He was crossing the area driving a vehicle at the time of the clash. Rubel Hossain, Deputy General Manager of the hospital confirmed the matter and said that a round wound was found near the chest of the dead body. But whether it is a bullet wound or not, is still not certain.
On the other hand, a student in Savar got on top of a police APC van and was shot by the police. His death was confirmed by Yusuf Ali, duty manager of the hospital. He died after being brought to the hospital.
