Curfew relaxed for 11 hours in capital today
The curfew around the quota reform movement in Dhaka will be relaxed for 11 hours today. Curfew will be relaxed from 7 am to 6 pm.
At the same time, curfew also relaxed today in Gazipur, Narayanganj and Narsingdi districts. The curfew relaxed in these three districts on the next two days- Monday and Tuesday.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal revealed this information to reporters in a meeting with law and order forces at his Dhanmondi residence on Saturday (July 27) around 11 pm.
He said, since the situation is gradually improving. The law and order situation is improving.
The Home Minister said, 'Curfew will be relaxed on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday in Dhaka metropolis and Dhaka district, Gazipur metropolis and Gazipur district, Narayanganj and Narsingdi districts from 7 am to 6 pm. I will try to relax the curfew very soon.
The Home Minister also said in the rest of the districts, the District Administrators and law enforcement forces will coordinate and decide on curfew in their respective districts.
The government imposed a curfew on Friday (July 19) from 12:00 pm to Sunday (21 July) 10:00 am when riots broke out across the country, including the capital, over the quota reform movement. The curfew was then extended indefinitely. However, the curfew is being relaxed for a few hours every day.
