Curfew to be relaxed from 7 am to 8 pm from July 31 to June 3

The curfew will be relaxed from 7 am to 8 pm every day from next Wednesday to Saturday.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said this at a press briefing at the Secretariat on Tuesday evening.

He said the ongoing curfew from 8 pm to 7 am will remain in force for the next four days. The decision will be effective in Dhaka, Narayanganj, Gazipur and Narsingdi districts. In other districts, the local administration will take a decision in this regard.

Earlier, seven ministers, four secretaries and chiefs of law enforcement agencies sat in the meeting at 3:20 pm to decide on the overall law and order situation in the country, curfew, ban on Jamaat-Shibir, the ongoing anti-discrimination quota reform movement.

Law Minister Anisul Huq, Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Mohammad Ali Arafat, State Minister for Labour and Employment Md Shahriar Alam, Nazrul Islam Chowdhury and State Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak attended the meeting. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan presided over the meeting.

However, on the night of July 19, curfew was imposed across the country and army was deployed after violence and conflict spread around the quota reform movement. Later, the government declared general holidays from July 21 to 23.
