Security has been beefed up in Dhaka after Jamaat-e-Islami and its student body Islami Chhatrashibir politics were banned.

DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman revealed this information to the media on Thursday (August 1) afternoon.

He said that DMP is ready to deal with any kind of terrorism and sabotage after the Jamaat-Shibir ban. Security has been strengthened in various important establishments of Dhaka.

Meanwhile, the government banned Jamaat-Shibir in an executive order on Thursday afternoon. A notification has been issued in this regard by the Public Security Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Later the notification was published in gazette form.

According to the Gazette, the judgment of several cases given by the International Criminal Tribunal has held the Jamaat and its affiliated organization Chhatra Shibir responsible for genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity committed during the 1971 Liberation War.

Apart from this, the Election Commission has canceled the registration of Jamaat as a political party on a writ petition of the High Court Division. The Appellate Division has upheld the judgment of the High Court Division, which is mentioned in the Gazette.
