Due to the extreme agitation of the students, Sheikh Hasina stepped down from the post of Prime Minister. The government has fallen. The US saluted the role of the Bangladesh Army during the agitation.

US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller welcomed the announcement of the formation of the interim government in Bangladesh at a regular press briefing on Monday (August 5).

He said we welcome the announcement of the formation of an interim government. We urge you to conduct any changes according to the laws of Bangladesh. We want the people of Bangladesh to decide the future government.

'We call on all parties to refrain from violence,' said Matthew Miller. Many lives have been lost in the past few weeks. We call for peace and moderation in the days ahead.

The Bangladesh government imposed a nationwide curfew against the 'March to Dhaka' program of anti-discrimination students on Monday. But the students broke the curfew and took to the streets. Miller welcomed the role the army took then.

A US State Department spokesman said it would be a positive development if it is true that the military has resisted calls to crack down on legitimate protesters.

Miller also said that the recent human rights violations and casualties in Bangladesh deeply saddened the United States. A full and transparent investigation is essential to ensure accountability for those deaths.
