AL offices and houses of MPs vandalized all over Bangladesh

The crowd erupted in joy after hearing the news of Sheikh Hasina leaving the country after resigning. After that, Awami League offices were set on fire in various districts including Dhaka. Sheikh Hasina's residence, Sudhasadan was attacked, vandalized and set on fire at various buildings in the capital. There were attacks on the residences and business establishments of newly deployed ministers, party parliamentarians and leaders of the Awami League government in various areas.

These attacks took place in at least 44 districts till 10 pm on Monday (August 5). Among them, at least 27 parliamentarians, including 9 ministers and state ministers of the outgoing government house were vandalized and set on fire. There were reports of attacks on many government institutions.

Monday was the 'March to Dhaka' program of the anti-discrimination student movement. Thousands of people started coming down on the streets defying the curfew. When Sheikh Hasina's resignation was announced around noon, lakhs of people descended on the streets of Dhaka.

According to the concerned sources, the Chief Justice's residence was vandalized on Monday afternoon. At around 5 pm, it was seen that several people entered the Chief Justice's residence at 19 Hare Road and vandalized it as well as taking away various items from the residence. At that time, the electricity connection was disconnected. Before the incident, the Chief Justice came out of the residence.

Sheikh Hasina's personal residence, Sudhasadan, located at No. 5, Dhanmondi, was vandalized and set on fire at around 3 o'clock. Many people are seen leaving the house with their belongings. The house allocated for Sheikh Hasina's younger sister Sheikh Rehana in Gulshan was also vandalized.

Apart from this, portraits of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Sheikh Hasina in front of various establishments were vandalized. Various shops in the capital were vandalized.

Awami League President Sheikh Hasina's office at 3/A in Dhanmondi was also set on fire. They protested in front of the office with various slogans.

The house of former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan was also attacked and vandalized in Dhanmondi. Yesterday around 3:30 pm, it was seen that many people broke the gate and entered his house. Smoke was also seen coming out of the house.

Apart from this, portraits of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Sheikh Hasina in front of various establishments were vandalized. Various shops in the capital were vandalized.

Outside Dhaka, the residences of the Hasina government's former ministers and state ministers have been attacked and vandalized in various districts. The house of Former Law Minister Anisul Haque in Kosba Upazila of Brahmanbaria, former Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Mazumdar in Post Office Para of Naogaon City, former Youth and Sports Minister Nazmul Hasan in Bhairab of Kishoreganj, former Social Welfare Minister Dr. Dipu Moni, the residences of former Public Administration Minister Farhad Hossain were vandalized and set on fire in Meherpur.

Deputy Speaker Shamsul Haque's house was also vandalized in Pabna. A mob set on fire to the house of former state minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak in Godownpara of Singra Upazila Sadar in Natore. Sylhet District Awami League President Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury's residence was vandalized and set on fire at Shapla Bag in Sylhet Nagar. The residence of the former Minister of State Affairs in the hill Tracts of Khagrachari, Chattogram was also attacked.

Apart from this, MPs include Mashrafe Bin Mortaza in Norail, Amir Hossain Amu in Barishal, Salim Osman and Shamim Osman in Narayanganj, Nizam Uddin Jalil in Naogaon, Ranjit Chandra Sarkar in Sylhet, Shajahan Khan in Madaripur, Sharif Ahmed and Mohit Ur Rahman in Mymensingh, Shafiqul Islam in Natore, and Mujibur Rahman in Bogura, Mannujan Sufian and SM Kamal Hossain in Khulna, Naimuzzaman Bhuiyan in Panchagarh, Nizam Uddin Hazari in Feni, Abdul Odud in Chapainawabganj, Nuruddin Chowdhury in Laxmipur, Mirza Azam in Jamalpur, Golam Sarwar in Barguna, AFM Bahauddin Nashim in Madaripur, Chanuar Hossain in Sherpur, Feroz Ahmed in Satkhira, Bir Bahadur U Shwe Sing in Bandarban, Solaiman Haque Joardar and Ali Azgar in Chuadanga were attacked, vandalized and set on fire.
