Interim Govt. pay tributes at Central Shaheed Minar
Advisors of the Interim Government paid tribute at the Central Shaheed Minar.
They paid their respects at around 11:30 on Friday (August 9).
Earlier, interim government head Muhammad Yunus and other advisers paid tribute to the martyrs of the great liberation war at Savar National Memorial. They paid tributes around 9:55 am on Friday.
In the morning, Dr. Muhammad Yunus went to the National Memorial in Savar from Tejgaon by helicopter. After paying respect there, he left for Shaheed Minar.
Dr Muhammad Yunus took oath as the head of the interim government on Thursday night (August 8). After taking oath, he promised to give a new Bangladesh.
Dr Muhammad Yunus said, that with the sunrise on Friday, everyone will enjoy democracy, justice, human rights, freedom of expression without fear, and the cooperation of the government in leading a comfortable life for everyone. This is the goal of our government. Just help us to achieve this goal.
He said that the students had won against the dictatorial government. Today, the whole world is surprised and says hello to Bangladesh. Show great honor to the students of Bangladesh. We want to take this achievement even further.
He also said that the energy of the youth should be utilized. Nothing is impossible for our students. Our youth can make the impossible possible, they are committed to it. If we are united, stay away from destructive activities, and create a free environment for all, we will surely win.
It is to be noted that Sheikh Hasina fled the country by resigning from the post of Prime Minister on August 5 in the face of a continuous student movement. Then on August 6, President Md. Sahabuddin organized a meeting with the head of the three forces and the coordinators of the student movement at Bangabhaban. It was decided to form the next interim government headed by Dr Muhammad Yunus.
Then a new interim government of Bangladesh was formed on Thursday with Dr Yunus as the chief adviser.
