BFIU freezes bank accounts of former FM Hasan Mahmud and his family
The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) ordered the seizure of bank accounts belonging to former Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud and his family members. Along with this, the organization asked for all informations of their accounts.
A senior official of Anti-Money Laundering Agency confirmed this information on Sunday (August 11).
A letter was sent by BFIU to banks and financial institutions. According to the letter, all withdrawals through the personal and business accounts of Hasan Mahmud, his wife Nuran Fatema and daughter Nafisa Jumaina Mahmud will be freezed.
Former foreign minister is the joint general secretary of Bangladesh Awami League. He was elected from Chattogram-6 Constituency in the Ninth National Parliament and Chttogram-7 Constituency in the Tenth and Eleventh National Parliaments.
He previously served as Minister of State for Environment, Forests and Climate Change and Minister of State for External Affairs.
