Adviser Farooq-e-Azam takes oath

Farooq-e-Azam was sworn in as an adviser of the interim government led by Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus. He sworn in at the Bangabhaban around 11am Today (August 13).

President Md Shahabuddin administered the oath.

Before this, 14 advisers including Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus took oath on August 8. After that, two more adviswers were sworn in on Sunday (August 11).

Among the 17 advisers of the interim government, adviser Farooq-e-Azam could not take oath as he was in United States.

He reached the country on Sunday (August 11) night.

The swearing-in ceremony of Farooq-e-Azam began with the national anthem at Durbar Hall of Bangabhaban. Then a minute's silence was observed in memory of those killed in quota reform movement.

After reading from the scriptures, the swearing-in ceremony begins. The program was conducted by Cabinet Secretary Md. Mahbub Hossain.

Farooq-e-Azam took oath of secrecy first, as per the rules as an adviser. The new advisor then signed the oath book.

Naval commando Farooq-e-Azam is a freedom fighter who was awarded Bir Pratik.
